What is Asbestos
Asbestos is a set of six, naturally-occurring silicate mineral fibres and was once considered to be a very useful mineral because it is strong, flexible, affordable and can insulate from heat and electricity.
Inhalation of asbestos fibers can cause serious and fatal illnesses including lung cancer, mesothelioma, and asbestosis.
Asbestos materials includes cement sheeting, which is also often called fibro. Fibro containing asbestos was used in many Queensland buildings before 1990. The sheeting was used for roofs, fences and cladding, and can often be found being used as backing boards in wet areas like bathrooms and kitchens.
Safe Removal of Asbestos
The safest and best way to remove asbestos is to hire a licensed professional. They are trained, and can correctly identify different types of asbestos, they have a broad knowledge of the common uses of asbestos, products that were made using asbestos fibres, and the type of asbestos used in different materials.
Handling asbestos is extremely dangerous, not having the correct PPE (personal protective equipment), incorrect handling and incorrect disposal practices could result in serious health risks and legal ramifications. Angry Ant Asbestos Removal are well-equipped to handle and dispose of these hazardous materials, ensuring that all Occupational Health and Safety Regulations are adhered too.
